CONTENTdm Featured Collections: October 2013

Organizations worldwide are using CONTENTdm digital collection management software to create thousands of outstanding digital collections and to provide easy access to their unique holdings.

This month, four collections from the CONTENTdm Collection of Collections are featured on the OCLC website. The featured collections for October are the Mujeres Latinas Digital Collection, the Medieval Manuscript and Early Printing Collection, Artifacts at The Children's Museum of Indianapolis, and the Frank La Roche Photographs collection.

Mujeres Latinas Digital Collection

University of Iowa Libraries

The Mujeres Latinas Project of the Iowa Women's Archives seeks to collect and preserve materials that document the lives and contributions of Latinas and their families to Iowa history. A portion of the oral histories, clippings, postcards, text, and photographs from the project are included in this digital collection.

Medieval Manuscript and Early Printing Collection

Missouri State University

This collection consists of 25 manuscript pages from 1300 to 1610, illustrating the history of books. Among the highlights of the collection are four pages from Books of Hours spanning 1425 to 1525. The collection also includes woodblock prints, early printed pages, and a map engraving. While the bulk of the material is original, the collection does include a few modern facsimiles.

Artifacts at The Children's Museum of Indianapolis

The Indianapolis Public Library

As a collaborative effort, The Indianapolis Public Library and The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis have selected 1,000 artifacts from the museum collection to photograph and make available to anyone, anywhere, via the library’s web site. Artifacts were selected based on their relevance to Indiana Curriculum Standards. Selected objects range over school subjects from Social Studies to Science to Geography with a particular emphasis on Indiana.

Frank La Roche Photographs

University of Washington Libraries

The Frank La Roche Photographs collection consists of more than 300 photographs depicting scenes of Seattle, Washington State, Alaska, and the western United States and Canada. Topics include Native Americans, the Klondike Gold Rush, the logging industry, and the Canadian-Pacific Railway.
