Lynda Aldana, Special Cataloging Projects Coordinator

Lynda received her MLS from the University of North Texas (UNT) and started her career while still a student as Library Assistant in the UNT Music Library. After completing her degree, she accepted a position at the University of Mississippi at the Blues Archive and Music Library. Shortly after, Lynda transferred to the main library to be the music and non-print cataloger, which evolved to include serials/e-resources cataloging. Lynda moved to Baltimore in 2002 to work at the Eisenhower Library at Johns Hopkins as the Principal Original Cataloger. Currently she holds the position of Special Cataloging Projects Coordinator, making her responsible for the entire cataloging unit. Lynda oversees special cataloging projects, cataloging for special collections and copy cataloging. Her responsibilities also include workflow, record loads, revision, etc.

She is also President, Center for Inner Quality Learning and Development and serves as a speaker, facilitator and success coach in such topics as best team services practices, relationship building and professional development.

Davita brings 20 years’ experience as a professional facilitator, industrial psychologist and organization development practitioner. In 1998, Davita founded Developing Human Capital to specialize in what she does best: assist employees, work groups, cross-functional teams, and leaders to operate successfully in today’s complex organizational systems.
Eugene Dickerson, MLSMD, National Library of Medicine
Gene Dickerson has over 20 years experience working with serials. Currently, Gene works for the National Library of Medicine in Bethesda, Maryland, where he serves as Head of Cataloging Unit 3 with an emphasis on serials cataloging and database maintenance. Prior to working at NLM, Gene was the serials librarian at Villanova University. Gene earned his undergraduate degree from Rider University and the MLS degree from Rutgers University. He is active in ALA where he is the former chair and a current member of the Continuing Resources Cataloging Committee, formerly known as the Committee to Study Serials Cataloging.
Paul Frank, Cataloging Specialist on the Cooperative Cataloging Team

Paul Frank is a cooperative cataloging specialist on the Cooperative Cataloging Team (Coop Team) at the Library of Congress. Paul began his career at the Library of Congress in 1993 on the Central and Eastern European Languages Team in the Social Sciences Cataloging Division, working primarily with Russian- and Hungarian-language materials; from 1997-2002 he cataloged music on the Music and Sound Recordings Team I in the Special Materials Cataloging Division. Beginning in 2002, Paul assisted the Cooperative Cataloging Team as a *Coop Team associate*; and in 2004, he joined the team as a full-time specialist. He currently works with cooperative partners participating in the SACO (Subject Authority Cooperative Program) and NACO (Name Authority Cooperative Program) components of the PCC (Program for Cooperative Cataloging).

DeEtta Jones is an organization development consultant whose practice focuses on the delivery of consulting and training services to libraries, colleges and universities, corporations, and non-profits. She regularly presents on the topics of cross-cultural understanding and communication, leadership development, management skills, recruiting and retaining diverse talent, conflict management, building highly effective teams, facilitation skills, participatory decision making processes and tools, and leading organizational and cultural change. Prior to launching her company in 2005, she spent ten years at the Association of Research Libraries (ARL) as the director of diversity initiatives and then as the director of organizational learning. DeEtta holds a B.S. in psychology and M.S. in student affairs in higher education from Colorado State University, has completed coursework on library and information science at The Catholic University of America, and has an M.B.A. from Johns Hopkins University.

Paulette Hasier, Ph.D., MLS

A member of the OCLC Eastern staff since 2005, Paulette Hasier is also a librarian, having worked in both public and academic/special libraries. Prior to working at OCLC Eastern, Paulette was the Director and Librarian at the Business Information Center at Southern Methodist University. She has her Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Arlington and her MSLS from the University of North Texas.
MARC of Quality
The MARC of Quality was started in 1992 by Deborah and Richard Fritz, librarians who love cataloging and computers. Their focus is to provide in-depth training that emphasizes both MARC standards and AACR rules; to provide MARC software that supports this training and consulting emphasis, and puts the batch processing power of the traditional vendor into the hands of the library; and to provide database services and consulting to support libraries that wish to follow these standards.

John Mitchell, Senior Program Specialist

John N. Mitchell is a Senior Program Specialist at the Library of Congress where he serves as the SACO Coordinator in the Cooperative Cataloging Team, the Secretariat of the Program for Cooperative Cataloging. His career at the Library of Congress includes bibliographer for ABSEES (American Bibliography of Slavic and East European Studies), cataloging editor for the National Union Catalog, and subject cataloger for the biology and medical teams. During 1991 John served as Head of Cataloging while employed at the National Institutes of Health Library. He holds a B.S. degree in biology from Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, and has done graduate work in the biological sciences and German at Brigham Young University from which he received secondary teacher certification. He has pursued graduate studies at Philipps-Universität, Marburg/Lahn, Germany, and received his M.S.L.S. from Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.
Elaina Norlin, MLIS
OCLC Eastern, Manager of New Initiatives and Outreach
Elaina Norlin is responsible for developing new programs in the areas of digital and preservation services, managing our member outreach activities through new partnerships and professional collaborations, and implementing new services to better meet the day-to-day needs of OCLC Eastern's member libraries. Elaina comes to OCLC from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), where she served as a senior program officer from 2003 to 2006. From 1997 to 2003, she was on the faculty at the University of Arizona Library, Tucson, as an Associate Librarian. Elaina has authored several books, including Usability Testing for Library Web Sites: A Hands-On Guide (2001, ALA Editions) and coming soon to print, eLearning and Business Planning: National and International Case Studies (Scarecrow Press). Elaina frequently consults with libraries on a variety of topics including Web design and usability, and grants development. Elaina obtained her M.S. in library and information science, as well as her B.S. in advertising from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Leslie O’Flahavan is a co-founder and partner in E-WRITE, a company that helps thousands of people learn to write well for online readers. She has developed and delivered customized writing courses for customer service agents, help desk staff, web content contributors, marketers, executives, demographers, county government employees, activists, federal employees and teachers. She is the co-author of Clear, Correct, Concise E-Mail: A Writing Workbook for Customer Service Agents.
Before founding E-WRITE, Leslie was a writing instructor and author of educational materials for the Smithsonian Institution, National Geographic, and Cable in the Classroom.

For more than 21 years Chris Olson has been assisting information professionals with their marketing and communications activities, most recently through her firm Chris Olson & Associates. Her experience includes all aspects of marketing management—from customer research and product development to promotion campaigns and brand management strategies. She brings an in-depth understanding and a pragmatic approach to marketing information services in both traditional and electronic environments.
Chris has a BA in Art History, an MLS from the University of Maryland, and an MBA from Johns Hopkins University. Her education has given her a unique perspective and understanding of what it takes to successfully incorporate marketing strategies into the management of information services.

Dan Ream

Dan Ream is an Associate Professor and Head of Instruction and Outreach Services at the Virginia Commonwealth University Library in Richmond. Prior to that, he was Head of Reference Services at VCU and a reference librarian at the University of Tennessee–Knoxville Library.
In addition to his work within the library, Dan teaches, writes and speaks extensively on conducting research in the Internet age.
Dan holds an M.A. in English from the University of Tennessee, and an M.A. in Library Science from the University of South Florida.
Tiffini Travis, Director
Information Literacy and Outreach Services at CSU Long Beach
Tiffini is the Director of Information Literacy and Outreach Services at CSU Long Beach. She has presented both nationally and internationally on a variety of topics, including evaluation of electronic services, information-seeking behavior of undergraduates and the use of social networking software (MySpace, facebook) for outreach. Tiffini has a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MLIS from UCLA.
