WorldCat Resource Sharing Basics
Course description
This course will provide an overview of the ILL Policies directory and give you an opportunity to create your own ILL policies.
The ILL Policies Directory provides two main functions to enhance your ILL workflow. First, it enables libraries to enter and display information about their library, lending policies and pricing, and library contacts, collections, and schedules. Second, it provides a way to search potential resource sharing libraries by OCLC institution symbol, institution name, or unit name.
Why take this course?
The OCLC ILL Policies Directory has replaced the OCLC Name-Address Directory (NAD) for OCLC ILL users worldwide. The OCLC ILL Policies Directory provides users of the OCLC WorldCat Resource Sharing (ILL) service with a central source for ILL policies, contacts, billing, and system information. This ILL feature is accessible from the OCLC WorldCat Resource Sharing and OCLC ILLiad Resource Sharing Management interfaces.
What you will learn
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Set up your own ILL policies for the OCLC ILL service
- Search for and edit ILL policy information
- Create Custom Holdings based on advanced searches in the directory
- Change your OCLC ILL supplier status
