Course description
This workshop is designed to give an introduction to selecting, verifying, and building Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) numbers using WebDewey. The workshop includes an overview of DDC principles and WebDewey training. Participants will have access to WebDewey in order to complete workshop exercises.

every classification scheme requires knowledge of its principles and tools to be used effectively. the dewey decimal classification is based on a set of principles and rules that operate consistently across the scheme, many of which are unique to the ddc. thus, ddc training is necessary in order to assign class numbers from the scheme accurately; at the same time, basic training will be amply repaid. this course will also enable the classifier to use webdewey, the scheme’s online version, effectively.
