Course description
This workshop will cover all aspects of digitization: project management, image capture, equipment, quality assurance, color management, and metadata.
Day One: Instruction – 6 hours; lunch – 1 hour; 2 breaks – 15/20 minutes each
- Intros, Project Mgmt (1 hour)
- Image Capture (2.5 hours)
- Equipment (1.5 hours)
- Quality Assurance (1 hour)
Day Two: 3.5 hours plus 15 minute break
- Color management (1.5 hours)
- Metadata (1.5 hours)

Program intended for those seeking more in-depth, hands on instruction in the facets of developing or assessing a planned digitization project or program. Attendees may be in grant or RFP/RFI stage.
Why take this course?
Some of the features of the workshop will be a focus on the common image capture standards in use and how they may apply to the digitization of materials and collections. Standards covered will include DLF (Digital Library Federation), the benchmark for Faithful Digital Reproductions of Monographs and Serials; and NARA (National Archives and Records Administration) review of the digitization environment, color management, image processing and much more. NDNP requirements for capture, output and metadata will be reviewed so that attendees can adequately determine whether full-blown NDNP requirements meet their needs
