About OCLC Eastern

OCLC—The world’s libraries. Connected.

OCLC is a nonprofit, membership, library service and research organization dedicated to the public purposes of furthering access to the world's information and reducing library costs. More than 60,000 libraries in 112 countries and territories around the world use OCLC services to locate, acquire, catalog, lend and preserve library materials.

OCLC Eastern—Your direct connection to OCLC

As a division of OCLC, OCLC Eastern is your local service center dedicated to connecting libraries in the Eastern U.S. Our office is located in the nation’s capitol—uniquely positioned to serve a diverse membership. We support libraries of all types and sizes; information centers, cultural heritage institutions, corporate libraries, and associations and foundations.

Working together—Collaboration that comes full circle

OCLC’s global connections are vast; and our members are on the forefront of emerging trends and developments in the information industry. As your OCLC-owned service center, OCLC Eastern advocates for and negotiates on behalf of our members at both local and global levels. We provide direct access to products, services such as cataloging and digitization, and technical support. Plus, our members embrace the vision of collaboration by contributing intellectual content and shared resources through WorldCat, a global network of library management and end-user services built upon cooperatively maintained databases of bibliographic and institutional metadata.

Membership

OCLC Eastern members represent a regional group of libraries and information professionals more than 350 members strong. This vibrant community works together for the betterment of information resources and sharing within the region and throughout the OCLC cooperative. OCLC Eastern provides a forum for the continued exchange of ideas across the breadth of our industry—from the smallest school library to the largest academic research institution. And due to our strength as information industry leaders, we keep members consistently informed about trends, issues and technologies that will enhance their work and planning.
