Small enhancements made to WorldCat Search API

There was a small set of enhancements made to the WorldCat Search API last night. Nothing too earth-shattering, but a few nice little things to help your apps and mash-ups work smoother, faster, better:

  • The LCCN is now available for default queries. (This index will be available using the Exact relation.)
  • Now you can use the JSON format option for library holdings without a record identifier.
  • Dublin Core and MARC XML format records are now produced from a newer version of the OCLC Crosswalk Web service--an experimental Research project/prototype.

In terms of the Crosswalk, no changes are expected to the format of these records, but the infrastructure change will help improve the API's stability and performance even more.
