If you or one of your fellow staff members is heading to Anaheim later this week, be sure to have them sign up for the following platform-related session at ALA Annual 2012:
Americas Regional Council and OCLC Symposium. Friday, June 22, 11:00am to 03:00pm PT at the Anaheim Marriott, Grand Salon A - E
The OCLC Symposium is all about Platforms--what they are, what they do and why they empower innovation. If you come to the Americas Regional Council beforehand, you can also enjoy lunch with colleagues. You do not have to be affiliated with an OCLC member library to attend the OCLC Regional Council meetings--they are open to anyone.
It's also being Webcast live for all of us who aren't attending ALA this year. Register here for the live Webcast.
OCLC WorldShare Platform: App-sharing at Webscale June 23, 10:30am to 12:00pm at the Hyatt Regency Orange County, Imperial Room
The WorldShare Platform session will be a good intro for your library director, head of systems or head of IT. Or anyone else on your staff. Or come yourself, because you want to hear from a rocket scientist. No kidding! Well, a librarian developer for rocket scientists. Here's the description for the session:
What if you could customize your library system, the same way you do your Facebook page or iPhone—and then share it? The OCLC WorldShare Platform lets you share apps, ideas and creativity with the entire library community and beyond. Hear from app-maker Alex Smith, Information Science Specialist at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, about his innovations and how you can use them, and more about the WorldShare Platform from Kathryn Harnish, OCLC Senior Product Manager.
The session is being recorded and will be available on OCLC.org shortly after the conference.
Register for these and other sessions on the main OCLC site.
