Code4Lib Mid-Atlantic

So last week I had the opportunity to attend code4lib Mid-Atlantic and hang out with library developers from that part of the country. One of the most interesting things about the conference was its international set of participants. Because the event was held in conjunction with the VuFind conference, several members of the international VuFind community stayed and attended the code4lib Mid-Atlantic conference as well. This gave the small conference a refreshing global-cosmopolitan atmosphere.

API Key requests move to OCLC Service Configuration

I'm happy to share some great news in terms of API WSKey management.

New functions for Acquisitions and new License Manager Web service in beta

This past weekend OCLC made several improvements to the current Web services and released a new beta of the License Manager Web service. The existing WMS Acquisitions Web service now includes read access to several more objects which are part of the Acquisitions workflow. The new objects available include:

Planned downtime for the WorldShare Platform on 5 August 2012

On Sunday, 5 August 2012 there will be a scheduled service downtime for the OCLC WorldShare Platform and all associated OCLC Web services available through the Platform from 2:00 am to 8:00 am EDT (-4 GMT).

During the downtime, the WorldShare Platform will receive this quarter’s planned enhancements, including new functionality for selected WorldShare Management Services APIs amongst other improvements. Downtime will be minimized as much as possible.

DEADLINE EXTENDED for Innovation in Libraries proposals

You're in luck. We've been asked to extend the deadline for proposal submissions for Innovation in Libraries, the free post conference after LITA Forum. I know, I know, summer schedules and life gets in the way of work. OK, you now have until 31 August to get your 20 minute session, 5 minute lightning talk or group leader topic proposal ideas in. So get to cookin' on what interesting things you can share with the group.

Linked Data now in WorldCat Facebook App

The availability of Linked Data in WorldCat.org has everyone here very excited. We had been anxiously awaiting the chance to make use of this new feature in our own applications, and are now beginning to try it out.
