GovDoc

The OCLC GovDoc service, available to regional and selective depository libraries, provides up-to-date, MARC-format cataloging records for U.S. government documents. As a GovDoc subscriber, your library regularly receives bibliographic records for only the government documents it holds. GovDoc is available to all federal depository libraries—institutional OCLC membership is not required to use the service.

Fast, easy updates

You receive monthly updates the way you need them—electronic files, plus printed catalog cards if desired—for only the items you want. You don't spend precious staffing resources on manual cataloging.

Comprehensive coverage of all formats

Records are available for everything the U.S. Government Printing Office produces, including charts, posters, audiovisual materials, and electronic information.

Automatic holdings in WorldCat

GovDoc automatically registers your holding of these cataloged materials in WorldCat, adding your OCLC symbol to each record in the world's most comprehensive online union catalog and bibliographic database. Thousands of sharing libraries in the WorldCat cooperative can see that a document is part of your collection.

Accurate, prompt records with a purpose

As a depository institution, you are responsible for maintaining the public's free, unfettered access to government information such as Congressional reports and federal forms. GovDoc ensures this important democratic function is performed in a timely manner—you make public information more visible to the world, and available to your patrons more quickly.
