Case Study 1: Smithsonian Institution Archives
The Smithsonian brings together one library (with 20 branches), 19 museums and galleries and 18 archives (not to mention nine research centers and a zoo) through innovation and vision. Jointly, LAMs provide access to the Smithsonian's collective photograph collection through the Flickr Commons and the Smithsonian Photography Initiative.

Case Study 2: Victoria & Albert Museum
The Victoria & Albert has integrated the National Art Library, archives and the curatorial prints, drawings, paintings and photographs collections into a single Word and Image department. Leveraging strong collaborative relationships throughout the institution, the V&A has embarked on large-scale digitization and innovative online projects.

Spotlight Presentation 1: LAMs converging @ The University of Calgary
Bringing together libraries, archives, museums and the university press for the benefit of scholars, the University of Calgary is building a 21st century research facility in the heart of its campus. The Taylor Family Digital Library will house a "collection of the future" integrating access to traditional print, museum, and archival materials with digital and three-dimensional objects, media formats and onsite broadcasting and telecommunications.

Spotlight Presentation 2: LAMs converging  in York
The City of York has recently launched an ambitious new plan to bring the central library and the archives together. Public libraries bring a strongly service-oriented perspective to the discussion about library, archive and museum collaboration. York also operates a heritage learning network which brings libraries, archives and museums together in the learning agenda.

Highlighting key UK players involved in LAM convergence, the session will feature a moderated discussion with respondents. Rather than formal presentations, each representative will make a five-minute statement followed by in-depth discussions, prompted by questions from the respondents.
