Features available from the WorldCat library access linksWhen you have set up links to WorldCat from partner services, your users will see the following information and features based on how your library has configured your FirstSearch authorization. Library locatorPatrons can easily locate relevant library holdings with the OCLC WorldCat library locator. Because partners include the FirstSearch authorization information in the link, holdings for the postal code associated with that authorization are automatically displayed. In addition, patrons can input a postal code, state, or country of origin to view the subset of libraries near that location. The library locater also features an option to display all library holdings.
OPAC linkIf you have configured URL access to your OPAC within the FirstSearch administrative module, patrons will see that link when viewing the library list in the WorldCat library access interface. Libraries may also configure access to their librarys local system through their Z39.50 server. This option allows direct access to holdings information via Z39.50-compatible library catalogs.
Configure access to your OPAC in the Linking tab of the FirstSearch administrative module. Click the Web Library Catalogs link to display the configuration options. See the OCLC FirstSearch Administrative Module Reference Guide for more detailed instructions on configuring your OPAC link. Outbound linksIf you have enabled the WorldCat link from library access partner services, you will be able to display the following fulfillment services if they have been turned on in the Outbound Linking section of the FirstSearch administrative module:
Libraries enabling OCLC direct request ILL will also display a link to initiate ILL requests.
Configure access to outbound links in the Linking tab of the FirstSearch administrative module. Click the Outbound Linking link to display the configuration options. See the OCLC FirstSearch Administrative Module Reference Guide for more detailed instructions on configuring outbound links. |
