| Subject 1 | Discerning Identical Captions |

| Subject 2 | |
| DDC number | 332.6 |
When you have DDC numbers with the same caption, the differences must come from the hierarchy above. These hierarchies are:
332 Financial economics
332.6 Investment
332.63 Specific forms of investment
332.632 Securities, real estate, commodities
332.6322 Stocks (Shares)
332.63228 Stock speculation
332.632283 Options
332 Financial economics
332.6 Investment
332.64 Exchange of securities and commodities; speculation
332.645 Speculation
332.6453 Options
Notice that 332.632283 has 332.63228 above it with the caption "Stock speculation," and further up the hierarchy 332.6322, with the caption "Stocks (Shares)". Therefore 332.632283 is limited to options for stocks and shares. In contrast, 332.6453 has the number 332.64 in its upward hierarchy, with a more general caption "Exchange of securities and commodities; speculation". The options there are more general: they include options in financial securities other than stocks and shares, and commodity options. The fact that these options are more general than stock and share options is also illustrated by its shorter number; seven digits versus nine.
You can also look at difference between these options with the Relative Index (RI) terms used. The number 332.632283 includes the RI term, "Options (Finance)--stocks" in WebDewey (as well as six other RI terms). However, 332.6453 includes the RI terms "Options (Finance)" in DDC 22 and WebDewey and "Options (Finance)--multiple forms of investment" (as well nine other RI terms) in WebDewey. This is another way to determine that 332.632283 is limited to stocks, while 332.6453 covers all forms of investment.
