I don't understand the table used to determine the Dewey number for William Shakespeare's Hamlet at 822.33. Should I include the letter S? 7-8?
The table provides an optional subarrangement for works by and about Shakespeare classed in 822.33. If you wish to use this option and you are classifying an individual work like Hamlet, first look at the instruction at O-Z in the table at 822.33:
"Use the first number of each pair for texts, the second for description and critical appraisal"
So for an edition of Hamlet you would use 822.33 S7, and for criticism of Hamlet you would use 822.33 S8.
