OCLC Canada and the CLA Resource Sharing Interest Group have awarded the 2009 CLA/OCLC Award for Resource Sharing Achievement to the Cape Breton Regional Library and Cape Breton University Library Resource Sharing Initiatives.

The Cape Breton Regional Library and the Cape Breton University Library have a long-standing history of cooperation and resource sharing that can be dated back to 1999. During the period of time, regular and special programs were cooperatively designed, planned and carried out in areas such as learning and teaching, collections, professional development and database creation. They partnered to bring together, update and maintain the Gaelic language records into one online bilingual catalogue and made it available through Web access.

The CLA/OCLC Canada Award for Resource Sharing Achievement is an annual award consisting of $1,000. The award and plaque were presented at the OCLC Canada reception at the annual CLA conference on May 29. This award recognizes their successful, innovative and extensive resource sharing initiatives in a public and academic library environment.
