Pricing for full-text articles

Some FirstSearch databases offer full text online. Full text content available from a variety of bibliographic sources can be purchased using the subscription, per-search, and monthly billing pricing options. These different payment types can be combined under a single FirstSearch authorization with some exceptions.

Per-article payment/billing options

Each time a user requests to view the full text of a document under the monthly billing option, the user is charged for one document. Documents can be e-mailed from the screen at no additional charge. Documents that are e-mailed but not viewed on the screen also incur a per-document charge.

Subscription option

Your library can pay a subscription fee for unlimited access to full text documents from one or more full text databases. For more information on FirstSearch pricing for full text, contact OCLC Canada.

Per-article use pricing in Electronic Collections Online

Some publishers of content included in FirstSearch's Electronic Collections Online offer libraries the option of purchasing use of individual articles. This helps stretch your library's resources—you can buy content your users need from e-journals to which you might not otherwise subscribe.

Article prices vary by journal. To enable per-article use purchase in the FirstSearch administrative module, you must have first enabled full-text monthly billing.
