OCLC training policies

Registration

All registrants for training courses provided by OCLC and listed on the Training Portal are notified with an automatic e-mail confirmation acknowledging receipt of the registration within 24-hours. This automatic email is not a confirmation that the course will be held, but a notice that we received your registration. This notice may be used as a receipt for purposes of personal reimbursement by your institution. We recommend registrants set email preferences to allow messages from training@oclc.org to prevent them from being blocked as junk mail.

The OCLC Training Portal also lists courses provided by its Training Partners. Please see each Training Partner's Web site or contact them directly for information about their courses, fees and registration policies.

Confirmations (72 hours in advance)

Registrants for training provided by OCLC will receive a final confirmation e-mail message about 72 hours prior to the scheduled date. This message is final verification that the course has met our minimum registration levels. The e-mail includes date, time, logon information, and links to course materials or, for on-site courses, the specific location, driving directions and parking information.

Travel arrangements

OCLC is not responsible for personal travel costs or arrangements made in order to attend a training course. If you need to book travel in advance of our 72-hour confirmation, please contact us for the latest registration count and ask us to let you know when minimum enrollment has been met.

Cancellation (by registrant)

As a courtesy, if you must cancel your registration for any reason, please let OCLC know as soon as possible. Early notification may allow us to extend space to someone on the waiting list. You may substitute another person from your institution at any time.

In most cases, if you cancel your registration or fail to attend you will not be charged. If you have already been billed, we will refund your fee. However, in the event that a course imposes a cancellation or non-attendance fee this information will be stated prominently on the course description and you will be charged accordingly. Please contact us if there are extenuating circumstances.

Cancellation (by OCLC)

All courses have minimum registration levels. If the minimum is not met, OCLC reserves the right to cancel. We will notify all registrants as soon as possible but no later than 72 hours before the course was scheduled. If you have already been billed, OCLC will automatically refund your fee.

OCLC makes every reasonable attempt to provide training as scheduled. Inevitably some courses may be cancelled with late notice due to inclement weather, trainer's illness, or other emergencies. We will notify you of cancellations due to emergencies as soon as possible, up to and including the scheduled date. If you have already been billed, OCLC will automatically refund your fee for the course. We will also make every effort to reschedule the course promptly and notify you of the new date.

Payment

OCLC courses may be paid by credit card, through your OCLC Billing Partner, or on your institution's OCLC invoice. Registrants choose billing method at the time of registration.

Your privacy

Emergencies happen! The reason we request your contact information, including home or mobile phone number, is so that we may notify you as quickly as possible in the event an emergency forces cancellation at the last minute. Please be assured that OCLC will use your personal contact information only for communications pertaining to cancellations and does not share this information with any third-party, or use it for any other purpose not related to training.
