If unable to supply from own collections, NLD tries to locate material in other Canadian libraries. Notification is sent in the form of a message to the requesting library's e-mail address providing library symbols that represent Canadian libraries holding the item and/or an explanatory note providing reason unfilled. Bibliography/index of holdingsAMICUS at the following URL: http://amicus.nlc-bnc.ca/aaweb/aalogine.htm is the Canadian national catalogue that contains not only the holdings for NLD, but also holdings from over 1300 Canadian libraries as well as CONSER and LC source records for which no holdings may be reported. ArchiviaNet—Search archival material Requests for archival microfilm must contain the reel number. If there are multiple reels required, submit a separate request for each reel. No charge for loans of books, microfiche, microfilm, etc. No charge for photocopies. Eight week loan period for non-Canadian libraries. Renewals are generally granted for two additional periods of four weeks each up to a maximum of 16 weeks, if no reserve placed; no renewals for newspaper microfilm. IFM participationNo. NLD does not charge for interlibrary loan services. Shipping/handlingRequests are generally processed within 2 working days for material held in the collection. Mail to US typically takes 6 to 8 days. No charge for postage or material sent by Ariel, post-to-web or fax. To return material to NLD, please follow return instructions supplied in loan requests; there are special instructions for the cross-border return of ILL material. Return via UPS is not desirable. International ordering informationWill accept requests from non-US libraries via OCLC ILL. No special requirements. Copyright cleared serviceNo special requirements. Workform instructions for ordering via OCLC ILLEnter NLD at least 5 times in lender string. If NLD is able to fill the request, the status of the item will change to SHIPPED. All follow-up messages such as status inquiries, renewals, etc. must be done through OCLC. If the item is not found or not available from the LAC collection, status will change to UNFILLED. NLD will also automatically search for other Canadian library locations. A follow-up message will be sent to the requesting library's e-mail address with a list of symbols of Canadian libraries that are reported to hold the item, and/or an explanatory note providing reason unfilled. Borrowers must approach alternate locations directly if they wish to pursue the request. Check the web directory of Symbols and Interlibrary Loan Policies in Canada, which lists detailed name, address, and ILL policy information for each symbol.
