ILL Analysis available in WorldCat Collection Analysis

WorldCat Collection Analysis now contains an ILL analysis component.  This enhancement uses WorldCat Resource Sharing data and is available (at no additional cost) for individual subscribers of the WorldCat Collection Analysis service.

The ILL analysis also includes ILLiad transactions that go through WorldCat Resource Sharing. The new ILL analysis component gives a library the ability to:

  • compare borrowing requests over time to identify acquisition priorities
  • compare borrowing requests based on age, subject, serial and nonserial items
  • analyze what your library borrows—items that supplement your collection and
  • analyze the items your library is lending—which reveals how your collection is used.

Initially, WorldCat Collection Analysis will use ILL data from July 2003 to the present; eventually that will grow to include five years of ILL data.

As part of this project a new Data to Analyze screen was added.  Libraries see the new screen when they select the Collection Analysis tab in the FirstSearch staff interface.  Libraries are then able to select the analysis that they wish to use. This screen is in addition to the Data to Analyze drop-down list that is available within WorldCat Collection Analysis.
