The following list describes what counts and does not count as a search when searching WorldCat:

Counts as a scan search:

  • Entering the title phrase scan command for bibliographic records.
  • Choosing Revise or Repeat from Connexion browser Search History.
  • Selecting an item from the title phrase index counts as one numeric/derived search, regardless of the number of records retrieved.

Does not count as a scan search:

  • Paging up or down in the title phrase index.
  • Entering a "goback" command that returns you to the title phrase index.
  • Entering scan commands incorrectly which result in a system error message (e.g., "Unrecognized command" or "Invalid parameter for Scan command").
  • Re-displaying list by choosing "Browse Results" in Connexion browser.
  • Returning to a Browse List by closing an open bibliographic record or list or by typing <Ctrl><Tab> in Connexion client.
  • Entering Authority File scans.
