Dewey is the world's most widely used library classification systemThe Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) system has been translated into more than 30 languages and serves library users in over 200,000 libraries in 135+ countries worldwide, making it the world's most widely used library classification system. More than 60 of these countries use the DDC to organize their national bibliographies. Here are translations recently completed or in progress. ArabicBibliotheca Alexandrina is in the process of translating Edition 22. For more information, contact: ChineseThe National Library of China has proposed a Chinese translation of Edition 21. For more information, contact: FrenchIn 2005, ASTED (Association pour l'avancement des sciences et des techniques de la documentation) published the French translation of Abridged Edition 14. For more information, contact: Le Cercle de la Librairie in Paris, France, has published several abridged versions of unabridged editions, including one based on Edition 22 in 2005. The translation is based on DDC 22, and is the first outside of the English-language standard edition to be published simultaneously in Web and print versions.
