The
WorldCat record is called cataloging or discovery metadata because it helps users find content they need. The
Digital Archive record is primarily preservation metadata, a term used broadly to refer to metadata that the Digital Archive uses to ensure the security and preservation of the object.
The Digital Archive metadata consists of elements relating to the object that are descriptive, administrative, technical and structural. You can create a Digital Archive record by mapping some elements from a WorldCat record into a Digital Archive record and keying other data. The Archive itself creates additional information.
