netLibrary launches eBook of the Month campaign
DUBLIN, Ohio, USA, 7 April 2004—Beginning April 7, the netLibrary division of OCLC Online Computer Library Center, Inc. will launch a new eBook of the Month campaign that will feature contemporary best sellers. Each month, netLibrary, together with leading publishers, will select a new featured title and provide unlimited access to the eBook through the homepages of more than 8,700 public, academic and special libraries that offer netLibrary eBooks.
The first eBook of the Month title will be New York Times bestseller “Abraham - A Journey to the Heart of Three Faiths.” Written by award-winning journalist Bruce Feiler, “Abraham” tells the powerful story of one man’s search for the shared ancestor of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.
“Our goal in establishing the eBook of the Month campaign is to promote the value of eBooks and the value of libraries by showcasing high-profile titles that illuminate, educate and inspire,” said Rich Rosy, Corporate Vice President, netLibrary. “We commend HarperCollins Publishers and Bruce Feiler for taking a leadership role and helping us launch this program.”
Now through April 30, library patrons will be able to access the full text of “Abraham” from library computers or by logging into netLibrary as a remote user. Patrons will also be able to link to author interviews and reading guides in addition to publisher and author Web sites and related “Abraham” resources. A new eBook of the Month will be featured each month.
In coming months, netLibrary will highlight new, noteworthy and award-winning titles selected from its catalog of more than 65,000 eBooks. In many cases, titles will be selected that support industry-wide literacy and awareness initiatives, including Black History Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, Women’s History Month and National Poetry month.
