OLIB Web Preview at CILIP Supplier Showcase in Manchester

Britannia Hotel in Manchester

Later this year, OCLC will be releasing a major new enhancement to OLIB, a web staff interface known as OLIB Web. OLIB Web is the culmination of a development program that has used comprehensive feedback from the OLIB user community. It offers all of the staff management functionality that libraries need now exceptionally in a web environment. There is no client software to be installed on library PCs—staff just click on the browser in any location at any time.

This is a welcome addition to libraries with limited IT support and for multi-site libraries that prefer internet or intranet access for OLIB. A browser interface also makes it easier for OLIB to be provided as a hosted OCLC service, a model that works successfully and aligns with OCLC’s mission to reduce costs associated with library management wherever it can.

OLIB Web will be available to view for the first time at the CILIP Supplier showcase in Manchester. The event takes place on 10 September at The Britannia Hotel.
