Custom Collections

As a veteran librarian who has served in multiple types of libraries, the NetLibrary Collection Manager is a collection development expert who knows the NetLibrary catalog better than anyone else! The Collection Manager will work with you and your OCLC Library Services representative to build or enhance your eContent collections within your library’s budget parameters. Especially if you are new to NetLibrary or making decisions on behalf of consortia, a custom collection conversation may be beneficial.

Plan your request

Before you request a custom collection, there are a number of questions you’ll want to think about:

  • What are your goals for this collection?
  • Do you have a set budget or approximate number of titles to acquire?
  • Would you like multiple formats and/or offline viewing capabilities?
  • Do you have existing academic programs?
  • Will this collection add to existing strengths or address new areas?
  • Subject areas you’d like to collect in?
  • Specific audiences or languages you’d like to target?
  • Date ranges or publishers you are interested in?

Once you’ve made some decisions on questions like these, your OCLC Library Services representative can help guide you through the process and get your collection request underway. Contact OCLC Library Services at: libservices@oclc.org or 1-800-848-5878, ext. 5155.
