OCLC Western CONTENTdm Users Group Meeting (June 2008)
On June 5 and 6, more than 60 people gathered in Claremont, California for the 2nd annual OCLC Western CONTENTdm Users Group meeting.
Hosted by the Claremont University Consortium, this two-day meeting provided an opportunity for those using the CONTENTdm Digital Collection Management Software to learn more about creating online digital collections and to network with others. Topics covered during the meeting included rights management for institutional repositories, customizations and Web interfaces, data migration, collection visibility and more. Presentations from the User Group Meeting are available at: www.oclc.org/western/info/contentdmug/ Prior to the meeting, there also were two workshops. The one workshop, designed for new users, was a CONTENTdm Basic User instruction workshop that covered the basics of creating and maintaining online digital collections and included hands-on exercises. The second workshop, for intermediate and advanced users, was taught by library staff from Claremont University Consortium and Reed College.
In late April, nearly 100 people met in Indianapolis for the third annual meeting of the Midwest CONTENTdm Users Group, hosted by Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis.
Coming soon is the Eastern CONTENTdm Users Group Meeting on July 24 and 25, with a half-day of pre-conference training on July 23. This meeting will be hosted by the Pennsylvania State University Libraries. For more information, visit http://nylink.org/contentdm/
