Why select this database?
The ATLAReligion Database is a comprehensive database designed to support religious
and theological scholarship in graduate education and faculty research. The file
contains citations from international titles and 13,000 multi-author works in
and related to the field of religion. It also includes a full range of index citations
to journal articles, essays in multi-author works, book reviews, and serials indexed
in ATLA's print indexes: Religion Index One (RIO), Religion Index Two (RIT), Index
to Book Reviews in Religion (IBRR), and the ATLA RDB. Though coverage is from
1924 to the present, not all publications begin in 1924.
Important access note: The authentication method used to access remote
full text in ATLA is browser dependent at this time. The URLs to ATLA in the Z39.50
records currently work with Internet Explorer but not for other browsers such
as Netscape. ATLA is investigating a solution that will eventually provide access
to the ATLA full text from additional browsers.

What follows is a list of FirstSearch indexes and the combination of USE and STRUCTURE
attributes that can be used to access them.
- For any FirstSearch label where multiple USE attributes are listed all the
attributes will provide the exact same search result sets.
- Any USE attribute that is not marked as a restrictor is available via the
SCAN service.
- Restrictors are specially implemented indexes and are not available for
scanning. Terms for these must be ANDed with other terms to limit the size
of the result set. See the table provided for each restrictor to determine
valid terms and their associated meaning.
