WorldCat Resource Sharing : Features : Sharing for groups, consortia and GACs

Sharing tailor-made for library groups

Library groups and consortia can achieve efficient, cost-effective pooling of collections with WorldCat Resource Sharing. Setup is simple, especially if participants are already OCLC member institutions. Libraries in the group easily contribute their holdings to WorldCat, so they are visible to WorldCat searchers. And through FirstSearch, users are always directed to local and group-owned materials first. Then they can use a "display holdings" option to find items in the broader WorldCat universe.

The solution for GACs

Group Access Capability (GAC) organizations, ad hoc associations of libraries united by subject matter, geography or another attribute, can also use WorldCat Resource Sharing. All members have access to each other's bibliographic, locations and summary holdings records.

Join an international GAC created by OCLC

OCLC has created its own Global Sharing GAC to facilitate lending across national boundaries.
