CONTENTdm Featured Collections: March 2008

Organizations worldwide are using CONTENTdm® Digital Collection Management Software to create thousands of outstanding digital collections and to provide easy access to their unique holdings.

This month, three collections from the CONTENTdm Collection of Collections are featured on the CONTENTdm Web site. The featured collections for March are JoCoHistory, The Cuban Historical and Literary Manuscript Collection, and Fons digitals de la Cartoteca de Catalunya.

Included in the collection information below is a link to each organization’s record in the OCLC WorldCat Registry. OCLC’s WorldCat Registry allows libraries worldwide to manage and organize their data for vendors and third parties by creating and maintaining a comprehensive institutional profile in a single, Web-accessible location.

JoCoHistory is a joint project of museums, archives, libraries and historical societies in Johnson County, Kansas. The database provides access to historic images related to the people, places, culture and social groups of the area.

Comprised of original manuscripts dating from the 17th to the 20th centuries, this collection includes books, slavery sales, property documents and correspondence. Highlights include a journal of events from March to August 1762 of the British expedition in Cuba under the command of Earl Albermarle and Sir George Peacock; a May 12, 1895 letter from Cuban patriots José Martí and General Máximo Gómez clarifying military orders to General Jesús Rabí during the Cuban War of Independence; and the manuscript of the renowned 19th century Cuban writer Nicolás Heredia's novel Leonela.
