Dewey-Only sessions now timeout after 120 minutes of inactivity. Dewey-Only sessions do not accrue Access & User Support fees, nor do they count against simultaneous logon limits for flat fee Internet or dedicated TCP-IP access. Dewey-Only sessions generally apply to cataloging authorizations with Dewey access; however, Dewey standalone authorizations can also benefit from Dewey-Only sessions' 120 minute inactivity timeout.
You can navigate from a Dewey-Only session to a separate cataloging session without extraneous logon. The opposite also applies; you can easily navigate from an existing cataloging session to a separate Dewey-Only session. (Please note: This feature applies to cataloging authorizations with Dewey access.) The keyboard shortcut Alt+N invokes this feature from Dewey-Only sessions to cataloging and vice-versa.
Switch Sessions after Logon
Once you have logged on to OCLC Connexion, you can easily open a Dewey-Only session and/or a Cataloging/Authorities session without separate logon.
Navigate from a Dewey-Only Session to Cataloging/Authorities without Separate Logon:
To access cataloging from a Dewey-Only Session, select "Start Cataloging" at the Show Options dropdown menu item of the Dewey Services tab. A separate browser window will open with the cataloging tab apparent. (You may also set User Preferences to define your default new session preferences. For example, you may want the "Start Cataloging" feature to default to the Authorities Browse screen). You will accrue Access & User Support fees in a Cataloging/Authorities session. Therefore, please logoff when you are finished with your cataloging session.
Open Cataloging without Separate Logon
New Cataloging Window Opens
Navigate from Cataloging/Authorities to a Dewey-Only Session without Separate Logon:
If you chose not to logon to Connexion using a Dewey-Only Session, you may still access a Dewey-Only session by navigating to the Dewey Services tab and selecting "Start Dewey-Only" at the Show Options dropdown menu item.
Open Dewey-Only without Separate Logon
New Dewey-Only Window Opens
A separate browser window will open with the Dewey Services tab present. The absence of the Cataloging tab in the new window is your visual cue that the Dewey-Only session does not accrue Access & User Support fees.
Set User Preferences
Set your default new session preference from the General tab, Admin Options, Preferences dropdown menu item.
Next select "Dewey Services Options."
Set Cataloging Session Preferences
You may set preferences to define whether the "Start Cataloging" function routes to Cataloging Search (Search WorldCat), Cataloging Browse (Browse WorldCat), Authorities Search, or Authorities Browse screen.
Set Dewey-Only Session Preferences
You may set preference to define whether the "Start Dewey-Only" function routes to the Search or Browse screen. (If your authorization contains access to Abridged WebDewey, your screen may vary slightly; i.e., you may select whether you wish new sessions to default to the Search Abridged WebDewey or Browse Abridged WebDewey screens.)
