I love the new work area in WebDewey!  But where did it go?  Today I can't find it.

Introduced in October 2003, the work area was designed as a free text input line that lets you input your base number and add to that number as you read number-building instructions.  If you plan to use the work area, make sure you leave the default set to "Show" in preferences.  (If you want to "Hide" the work area, select the General tab --> select Preferences from the Show menu list item --> Dewey Services Options --> DDC Record Options --> Work Area --> Hide.  Or you can simply toggle it off, as described in the next sentence.)

Now, assuming you didn't set the work area to hide in preferences, you may have toggled it off with the keyboard shortcut, <Alt> + <W>.  To see the work area again, toggle it back on with the same shortcut, <Alt> + <W>.

And remember, if you're reading number building instructions in a part of the interface where you do not see the work area (for instance at the bottom of long records), you can now (as of November 2003) open the work area dialog box with the keyboard shortcut, <Alt> + <Shift> + <.> (period or full stop).
